About CESGEN
What it is
CESGEN (Centro de Estudios en Genómica y Nutrición SLU) is a company based in Spain. It works on three lines that feed one another: online training in nutrigenomics, genomics and artificial intelligence, and data science for health; the NutriGPT study, a wellness nutrigenetic study for nutrition practices, analysed in its own laboratory in Spain; and DNAGPT, a decision-support system for the professional.
Who
CESGEN was founded in 2013 and is led by Dr David de Lorenzo, who holds a PhD in genetics. He has spent more than twenty years working in nutrigenomics and personalised medicine: how each person’s genetic variation shapes their response to food and lifestyle, from population genetics to variant panels and their interpretation with data science. He has taught online since 2014 and is the author of the campus courses. He was previously coordinator of the Biomedicine degree at the University of Lleida and Vice President of R&D at Prenetics EMEA, with research and teaching posts in Houston, Munich, Lleida and London. drdelorenzo.com
How we work
- Evidence, not promises. Associations between genes and nutrition are probabilistic, and we say so.
- Through professionals only. The study and DNAGPT are offered to dietitians and health professionals, who interpret and decide.
- Data under control. The laboratory knows only each sample’s code; the sample and any leftover DNA are destroyed after analysis.
